It’s something of a secret that the best venture capital and private equity investors focus carefully on executive leadership when making investments in China. Heidrick & Struggles has recently concluded an 18-month study of the top talent situation in China in partnership with Stanford University. The research provides a blueprint for how to pick the entrepreneurs and executives who are most likely to prevail in a highly competitive and fast changing market. The current business environment is a crucible for developing the next generation of business leaders in China; this event gives AAMA members a leg up on understanding which leaders and companies will be most successful in the years to come.

Panel speakers include Lee Ting, board member of China’s largest tech company, Lenovo; Rob Baxter, CEO of Centrality Communications; and Julie Murphy, VP of Global HR at Plantronics, Inc. Lee Ting | Managing Director, WR Hambrecht & Co.
Mr. Lee Ting is a Managing Director of WR Hambrecht & Co. During his 30 years at HP, Mr. Ting was the founder and General Manager of HP Taiwan, General Manager of the Far East Region, Managing Director of Southeast Asia Operations, Director of Business Development, and Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific. He is an independent Board Member of the Lenovo Group, the leading IT company in China, and MTI, a supplier of satellite/microwave communications components and subsystems based in Taiwan. Lee is also an advisor to WK Technologies, a leading venture capital company with operations in Taiwan and US and other private companies. Lee received his BSEE from the Oregon State University and has completed the Stanford Executive Program.

Rob Baxter | CEO, Centrality Communications
Mr. Rob Baxter is CEO of Centrality Communications, a System-on-Chip (SoC) producer with significant operations in Shanghai. Centrality?s SoC processors allow GPS, wireless connectivity, and multimedia to converge. Prior to Centrality, Mr. Baxter was Chief Executive at Xan3D and Senior Vice President at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing ? one of the world?s top pure play foundries. Mr. Baxter also held Vice President and General Manager positions in Europe, USA and Asia during a 16-year career at Motorola.

Julie Murphy | Vice President of Global Human Resources & Corporate Facilities, Plantronics Inc.
Ms. Julie Murphy has over 20 years experience providing professional Human Resources expertise to high tech firms. In her current role she provides executive leadership to the WW Human Resources located around the world, leading a dynamic energized team. During her tenure, Plantronics has acquired three companies and built an award winning factory and design center in Suzhou, China. Prior to joining Plantronics, Julie was employed at Oak Technology, Seagate Technology, Conner Peripherals and Xidex/Dysan. She has a BA in Psychology & Behavioral Science from San Jose State University, and is also a graduate of the University of Michigan Advanced HR Executive Program.

Moderator: Kyung Yoon | Vice Chairman, Heidrick & Struggles
One of Kyung Yoon’s functions is to serve as a bridge between the United States and Asia Pacific. Since joining the firm in 1994, Kyung has been one of the key drivers in Heidrick & Struggles’ Asia Pacific expansion, with management responsibility for the Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul offices. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Kyung was President of Benten Investments, Inc. Previously, she was President of Pacific Union Asset Management and Vice President of Dillingham Development Company. Kyung started her career with Banque National de Paris. Kyung has been featured on CNBC in “Managing Asia,” “Working Women in Asia” and “SmartMoney Asia.” She has also been featured in newspaper and magazine interviews in the Sunday Times, The Business Times in Singapore, Han Kook Il-Bo, Business Weekly in Korea, South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.
