Brian Hamel, SR. Director, Cadence Venture Capital Program
Brian launched the Cadence Venture Capital program in January of 2000, recognizing the opportunity to better leverage the Cadence brand and asset base within the startup and Venture Capital community. This program has helped successfully launch many semiconductor and system startups. To date, Brian has funded 19 companies and is active with entrepreneurs around North America and Europe, advising them on strategy for building their companies and raising institutional and strategic capital.
Brian joined Cadence in 1996, holding various sales and sales management positions. Prior to joining Cadence, he spent 7 years in the semiconductor industry in various sales and sales management roles at Agere Microelectronics and Integrated Device Technology. Over Brian’s 16 year career, he has worked with many successful early stage companies, including Granite Systems/Cisco, Stratacom/Cisco and Juniper Networks. He’s also worked with many top tier enterprises, including Cisco Systems, Apple Computer, and Sun Microsystems.
Brian holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and MBA studies from the University of San Francisco.
