Cellulose-derided biofuels is on the cusp of commercialization, with at least two commercial scale plants under construction and the benefit of significant government financial support. However, it still is well behind food based biofuels. What are the factors for success in achieving large scale commercialization and what is the scope for market penetration? Which technologies are likely to best address issues of feedstock supply, scale, yields, costs and compatibility with existing infrastructure?
