Special Hennessy Concert to Applaud Vietnam ’s WTO Membership (12/March/2007 – Financial Times)

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information will join hands with Moet Hennessy Asia Pacific to organize a special Hennessy concert congratulating Vietnam on becoming the 150th WTO member, local media said.

The concert will take place on March 13 at the Hanoi Opera House, with the participation of piano duet Maxim Mogilevsky from the US and Svetlana Smolina from Belgium.

The program is apart from the framework of annual Hennessy concerts, held over the past ten years, the ministry official said.

“Hennessy Concert” program was approved by the Vietnamese government in 1996 to be held every year with the aim to bring famous and sophisticated shows, as well as virtuoso musicians of the finest order to Vietnamese audiences.

Under the program, Vietnamese classical music fans have opportunities to meet world leading artists such as the American soprano Barbara Bonney, Eroica Trio from New York, the St. Lawrence String Quartet of Canada, the electrifying duo of Julian Rachlin and Lambert Orkis, the charismatic Chinese prodigy Lang Lang, and the Grammy-winning violinist Hilary Hahn.

For these great contributions, the Vietnamese ministry in June last year granted insignia for culture and information achievements to Mark Francis Bedingham, the regional managing director of Moet Hennessy Asia Pacific, Japan & Australia, and Laurent Morel, former director of the representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.
